Date: 4th August -22nd August, 2025 (three weeks)
The programme will include a preparatory bootcamp of one week, followed by a two-week training session as described below:
The first week will focus on bringing students of diverse academic backgrounds upto the required level of proficiency on data handling. Here, the students will be introduced to the basics of Unix command-line, R programming language etc. that are essential for the following week’s programme.
The second and third weeks will involve didactic and hands-on research experience. In the morning sessions, The didactic lectures will provide learning essentials on various quantitative techniques on handling, analyzing, visualizing and understanding of data in the areas not limited to biostatistics, imaging, epidemiology and genomics. The lectures will be delivered by relevant faculty from Yale University and Ashoka University. In the afternoon session, The students will handle data from various ongoing research projects of Ashoka University to address given research questions. The hands-on sessions will be mentored by respective principal investigators from Ashoka University. Tentatively, we will focus on a few major areas of big-data application in biomedical sciences, 1) Genomics; 2) Imaging – Microscopy; 3) Clinical data.
On the concluding day, there would be a symposium with keynote lectures and all student groups would present their research findings.

All candidates are required to fill the online application form latest by the 20th of June. UGs, PGs (including students enrolled for PhD) from math, natural sciences, computer science, biological and medical sciences and other related domains, with a yearning to contribute to the growing field of quantitative biomedical sciences are eligible to apply.
Selection will be based on academic credentials and certifications, skill set, recommendation letters and statement of purpose. High school level mathematics proficiency is desirable, and if it is not reflected in the transcript, additional certification of math background may be included
Rs. 5000 (to be paid after selection). The programme fees includes the cost of lodging (accommodation and food) for the entire duration of the programme.
Travel expenses to Ashoka University and back need to be borne by the participants.
