Ashoka University’s Professor Anustubh Agnihotri Selected as GLD Fellow 2025
GLD Fellows 2025 cohort comprises 12 distinguished scholars from around the world
Ashoka University is proud to announce that Professor Anustubh Agnihotri, Assistant Professor of Political Science, has been selected as a Fellow at the prestigious Governance and Local Development (GLD) Institute for the year 2025-26.
This is a remarkable achievement, as the GLD Fellows 2025 cohort comprises 12 distinguished scholars from around the world. Professor Agnihotri joins an esteemed group of researchers, including Selene Campion, Ashrakat Elshehawy, Gabi Kruks-Wisner, Dongshu Liu, Lynette H. Ong, Diego Romero, Shiran Victoria Shen, Sarah Thompson, Aliz Toth, Alejandra Berenice Trejo Nieto, and Noura Wahby.
The Institute for Governance and Local Development (GLD) is a research institute at the University of Gothenburg and Cornell University. Founded by Professor Ellen Lust in 2013 at Yale University, GLD Institute’s research focuses on understanding why some societies succeed in providing safe environments, good education, good healthcare, and other factors that promote human development, while others fail?
The institute predominantly works with societies around the world, developing methods, collecting data, and investigating key problems that societies face today and shares its key findings with researchers, policymakers, and the communities they work with. Each year, the institute selects a cohort of exceptional scholars to advance research and foster collaboration in the field of governance and development.
Professor Agnihotri’s Research Contributions
Anustubh Agnihotri’s research focuses on understanding how public bureaucracies shape the effectiveness of local governance and the delivery of public services. His dissertation project examines the variation in the quality of interactions between citizens and the land bureaucracy in India. Additionally, his work explores how new technologies are adopted and scaled in resource-poor contexts.
