On her book \'Indifference: On the Praxis of Interspecies Being\'
The Centre for Studies in Gender and Sexuality invites you to a book reading and discussion with Professor Naisargi N. Davé on her latest book, Indifference: On the Praxis of Interspecies Being. The event will take place on February 27th, 1.30 PM at the venue AC-04, LR 005. The event is part of ISHQ: Issues in Society, Queerness, and History, a series by CSGS that explores critical conversations on gender, sexuality, and politics. Professor Davé will engage with selected chapters from her book, including those on contradiction, the queer tongue, and the politics of animal protection.
About the Speaker:
Naisargi N. Davé is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Toronto. She is the author of two award-winning books, Queer Activism in India: A Story in the Anthropology of Ethics (2012) and Indifference: On the Praxis of Interspecies Being (2023). Her research focuses on intra- and interspecies ethics, exploring themes of affect, resistance, and violence in contemporary India. She is currently working on her third book, Murder: The Social Life of Violent Death.
