YIF Class of 2025
BA, Political Science, North Maharashtra University, JalgaonAkash is a first-generation Dalit student from rural Maharashtra who has worked for two years to make higher education more accessible for historically marginalised communities in the state. He is deeply inspired by anti-caste literature and aspires to become an anti-caste scholar focused on caste issues.
He writes on caste and the education of marginalised communities. He also spoke at the Indian Student Parliament, where he discussed why the caste census is important for lower-caste communities in India.
In his free time, he enjoys watching Tamil and Malayalam films and has a strong love for coffee.
At the Young India Fellowship, he looks forward to exploring critical writing, learning from diverse peers and building lifelong friendships.
