Amrit Balakrishnan

Hailing from Kerala, Amrit is a recently graduated Young India Fellow from the Class of 2024. He completed his Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Swansea University, Wales and prior to that, did a BA triple major programme in Psychology, Sociology and English from Christ University. Before joining Ashoka as a YIF, he worked as a Mental Health Support Worker in the United Kingdom, supporting the needs of neurodivergent children in a residential home. He was responsible for providing mental, emotional and practical support to 14 neurodivergent children, particularly with autism and special needs. As a result of his experiences, he is a passionate advocate for making spaces more accessible for people with disabilities and neurodivergence, and aspires to work to better the quality of life of such students at Ashoka University.
