Arman is interested in the Anthropology of Religion, Linguistic Anthropology and the study of Islamic ritual life in India. Arman’s research is situated in Hyderabad studying Sh’ii rituals of mourning, specifically trying to comprehend what it means to preach mourning by the Shi’a ‘Ulama (Islamic religious scholars). Before joining the department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ashoka University, Arman completed his Master’s degree in Sociology from South Asian University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences from Ramjas College, Delhi University.
