Dr. Kanika Agarwal is a Faculty Fellow at the Koita Centre for Digital Health (KCDH-A) at Ashoka University. She has an illustrated research & academic career spanning over 12 years. As an academician, she has taught specialized subjects in Food & Nutrition. As a researcher, she has been part of several national/international studies pertaining to personalized nutrition and sustainable diets. She has also consulted industry and start-ups in the nutrition domain whereby helping them in setting up high-quality nutritional databases for personalized nutrition recommendations with the help of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
She has a master’s degree in Food and Nutrition from Lady Irwin College, University of Delhi, and a PhD jointly from the University of Delhi and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. Her doctoral research investigated the intricate connections between the incidence of diabetes and cardiometabolic and lifestyle risk factors – a critical study on precision/personalized nutrition and physical activity.
Kanika believes that nutrition plays a vital role in disease prevention and public health and is determined to understand the nuanced factors influencing dietary choices. She is particularly interested in the intersection of nutrition and recent developments in AI/ML. She has also worked extensively in the areas of maternal and child nutrition and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and co-led a successful project funded by ILSI, India.
