Shantanu is a distinguished professional with extensive experience in library science knowledge management, and other related fields such as Healthcare Management. Before joining Ashoka, he was associated with NIMS University, where he held multiple roles – Professor of Business Communication and Digital Marketing for MBA and BBA students, Director of NIMS School of Business, and Director of the Knowledge Resource Center of NIMS University, where he managed 11 libraries.
Notably, he also served as the Chief Librarian at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and in this role, was responsible for the comprehensive management of the central and branch libraries, including establishing new satellite libraries and effectively overseeing a substantial budget. His expertise in library and information management extends to his tenure as a Fellow and Area Convenor at – the Knowledge Management Division at TERI, and Chief Librarian at various institutions, such as Indus World School of Business (IWSB) and the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIM -L), Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI), University of Delhi, IILM University where he played a key role in digitization initiatives, establishing libraries from scratch, managing library services, and organizing promotional events.
Shantanu holds a Master of Library Science degree, with a specialization in Library and Information Science, an MBA with a specialization in Marketing, an M.Sc. with a specialization in Ecology and Environmental Sciences, and a PhD awarded in 2010 with a focus on Information Service Marketing. He is also the recipient of D’Litt in Knowledge Management from Thames International University, Paris. He also received Advance Certification from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad in Healthcare Management. With a strong emphasis on research, Dr. Ganguly has an impressive record of government and international organization-funded research projects, the supervision of Ph.D. candidates, and the organization of 6 editions of the International Conference on Digital Landscape (ICDL). His contributions to library science and related disciplines are further evident in his extensive publications, encompassing research papers, books, articles and patents. He is also a recipient of national and international accolades for his outstanding contribution in the profession such as Bonnie Hilditch International Science and Technology Librarian award in 2010 from USA and Roll of Honor in Service Excellence from TERI.
