Subhashis Majumder

Visiting Professor of Computer Science, Ashoka University

Ph.D. Jadavpur University

Subhashis Majumder is a Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. He is also the Dean of the UG Programme there. He started his career at Texas Instruments (India) and has over seven years of experience in the industry. He moved into full-time academics in 2003. He did his undergraduate studies from Jadavpur University and has a Master’s degree from ISI, Calcutta, and Ph.D. from Jadavpur University. He was a research assistant at Rutgers University. His academic interests are in the domain of Combinatorial Algorithms, Computational Geometry, Graph Algorithms, Recommendation Systems, Empirical Software Engineering, and VLSI Design Automation. He has taught at ISI Calcutta, J. U. and the Indian Association for Cultivation of Science as a Visiting Professor. He also founded a small technology start-up in 2007 that successfully completed a five-year tenure as a fully export-oriented Software firm under the STP scheme of the Government of India.
