Varun Khandelwal

Varun Khandelwal is the founder at Bullero Capital. He’s been active in the Indian
financial markets since 2007. He focuses on absolute strategies, using a blend of
macro, fundamentals and proprietary statistical models to achieve superior risk-adjusted
returns.
He founded Bullero Capital as a SEBI-registered portfolio manager to manage public
money with a focus on absolute returns. After a decade of managing public money, he
shifted his focus on managing private capital across various asset classes – equity
derivatives, commodities, FX. He started his career at Oxus Investments beginning as a
research associate. Varun quickly advanced to roles that involved developing
investment strategies, creating portfolio analytics frameworks, and generating
investment ideas.

In addition to his professional roles, Varun is a Visiting Assistant Professor at Ashoka
University, where he teaches a course on the intersection of monetary policy and
finance. From 2011 to 2012, he was a Visiting Faculty member at the BIMTECH,
instructing MBA students in Investment Management and Financial Modeling. Varun
has been on the editorial board of “Developing Trends,” a macroeconomic publication
targeting institutional audiences. He occasionally writes opinion pieces on economic
and financial issues and contributes to financial media.
His hobbies include distance running, wild life photography, adventure sports and
trekking. He holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Warwick, UK, and a BA
(Hons) in Economics from Delhi University.
