(Un)learning Frontiers: Charting the Lodha Genius Programme’s Inclusive Growth

Our journey is marked by a commitment to inclusivity, a celebration of diversity, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student

As we move towards the second edition of the Lodha Genius Programme, I cannot help but reflect on the essence that defines it—a coming together of around a hundred high school students from diverse corners of India, each bringing a unique blend of cultures, perspectives, and knowledge. The inaugural edition of LGP has been a profound learning experience.

A recent awareness event in Srinagar, Kashmir, emphasised the ground realities we face. Enthusiasm resonated in the air, as we engaged with over 250 eager students from the valley. The passion in their eyes and the motivation from the teachers defined the essence of the event. Numerous conversations with students and teachers also highlighted the dearth of opportunities in the region. It underlines the significance of strategic outreach and pivotal choices at various levels. It unveiled the gaps in our outreach efforts, highlighting the passionate students we might have missed, the uncharted geographies where our programme is yet to make its mark, and the obstacles hindering some from even applying. These realisations fueled our commitment to bridging these gaps to ensure that every deserving student gets a chance to participate in the upcoming iterations. Our primary goal extends beyond the current cohort. We aim to reach those students who need this opportunity the most. The challenge now is to efficiently navigate towards them, ensuring that the doors to our programme are open to all deserving candidates.

Managing a venture like this offers an experience like no other. It is an opportunity I wish I had growing up—a chance to explore, learn, and grow in an environment that celebrates differences and encourages collective learning. The programme’s success lies in its academic pursuits and transformative impact on the students. Witnessing their growth in confidence is a testament to the power of this programme. The amalgamation of diverse student perspectives underscores a fundamental truth – knowledge doesn’t thrive in isolation. Beyond its focus on science and mathematics, this programme stands out for its interdisciplinary nature. It is a unique experience, not just about gaining knowledge and skills but also about fostering confidence in these young minds.

Our journey is marked by a commitment to inclusivity, a celebration of diversity, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student. As we pave the way for future iterations of our programme, it is critical to continue this journey with empathy, passion, and dedication to making a difference in the lives of young minds across the country.
