  • What & How?

    Young Scholars Programme Economics, Policy, and Governance (YSP EPG), a five-day residential programme for high schoolers, from grades 9, 10, 11 & 12, poised to be the next generation of global thinkers and thought pioneers. The programme is an interdisciplinary exposure designed to give deep insights and rich perspectives of our world and nuances of governance in dialogic sessions with policy & action workshops. Leading faculty such as Prof Ashwini Deshpande and Prof Bhaskar Dutta, public intellectuals such as Mr. Anil Swarup and policy think tanks such as Centre for Civil Society will engage with students on topics like economic policies, global market trends, nuances of governance and policy workshops.

    YSP Economics, Policy & Governance (YSP-EPG) has a separate application form. You need to apply using the respective application form.

    YSP-Economics, Policy & Governance is a five-day programme to be held in person at Ashoka Campus.

    Programme Dates

    May 26 – May 30, 2025 (Edition 1) OR June 9 – June 13, 2025 (Edition 2)

    Please note: both sessions are the same. They have been scheduled twice due to the busy engagements of high school students during the months of May & June.

    YSP-EPG days begin with engaging and thought-provoking faculty sessions that delve deep into the many fundamental questions around economics, policy and governance and its allied disciplines and engagement with social sciences. The Students interact with the best, world-renowned Ashoka faculty and are introduced to the cutting-edge work they are engaged in.

    Beyond classroom learning, YSP EPG offers hands-on experience. Students will participate in workshops where they’ll design solutions to pressing challenges. Activities include policy drafting simulations, policy analysis exercises, data-driven decision-making sessions, and collaborative brainstorming activities that mirror real-world policy think tanks. These workshops are creative avenues where our scholars will get an opportunity to exercise application of intersecting disciplines like Economics, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Politics, Geography and related streams to become future leaders, academicians, and professionals in diverse walks of life.

  • Why YSP EPG?

    Yes, students will be given a certificate on successful completion of the programme, provided all sessions are attended and there has been desirable participation by the student. Upon receipt of your certificate, please save it securely for your use later on, however, if you happen to lose it, a second copy of the certificate will be provided which will be chargeable for a sum of INR 500/- 

    Attending the YSP-Economics, Policy & Governance programme will give you an insight on Economics, Policy & Governance and its allied disciplines combined with Ashoka’s multidisciplinary approach to higher education, along with a campus tour. This will surely help you explore your interests and assist you in submitting the undergraduate application form at Ashoka University. However, this does not guarantee admission to the Ashoka UG programme.

  • Application & Fee

    An application fee of Rs 1000/- has to be paid with the submission of the completed application form. This is non-refundable.

    YSP Economics, Policy & Governance course fee is INR 49,500.

    If selected, the student has to pay the full fees to secure their spot.

     

    YSP-Economics, Policy & Society Fee is inclusive of the programme fee, stationary, resource material, accommodation and meal expenses.

    Yes, need-based financial aid is available.

    The financial aid section is available on the online application form. Please visit the application portal to register and receive an application ID. This section can be accessed after filling the first section of the YSP application form. You can then continue to fill in the details required to avail financial aid in the application form and submit the completed application form.

    The application for financial aid is part of the online application to the Young Scholars Programme. Students who apply for aid will have to submit the required documents as mentioned in the form for need-based evaluation of financial aid.

    Refund Policy

    For instance, if the date of the programme commencement is 19th May, then 

     

    if you withdraw between 12th May (Midnight IST) – 19th May, then 0% of the course fee will be refunded. 

    if you withdraw between 5th May (Midnight IST)  – 11th May (Midnight IST), then 50% of the course fee will be refunded. 

    if you withdraw on or before 4th May (Midnight IST) then 100% of the course fee will be refunded.

    All refund requests will be processed after the programme.

  • Eligibility & Requirements

    The application will be evaluated on the basis of your academic performance (your mark sheet/s), the essay to be written as part of the application and co-curricular activities reflects the same. However, we always look for students who are open and curious about learning new things.

    No, students from Grade IX to XII, with any background (not necessarily with any Economics, Policy & Governance background) with an interest in YSP Economics, Policy & Governance can participate.

    This year students who are appearing for their Class 12 board examinations in 2025 are eligible.

    Yes, there is a waitlist. Students who are on the waitlist will be informed, and as vacancies open up, they will be contacted for admission.

    Candidates will be notified about the admission decision via their registered email. YSP Economics, Policy & Governance staff actively monitor all emails and respond with the required information promptly.

    Yes, all YSP-Economics, Policy & Governance student participants will have to accept terms and conditions that will include:

    • Being responsible and ethical netizens. 
    • Sensitive & committed to learning.
    • No use of offensive language on any platform.
    • The YSP Economics, Policy & Governance Code of Conduct will be sent to all admitted students who will need to sign before they start the programme.

    YSP Economics, Policy & Governance is a very engaging programme, attending each session will add value to your learning and knowledge across various topics and also help later in college applications and making informed choices. Hence, attendance and participation are strongly advised for a meaningful experience and to obtain the programme certificate. There will be few parallel sessions running at the same time.
